About Stable Chaos

What makes an audience willing to give a brand its attention?

Hi, I’m Deb, and I’ve been a B2B marketer for 25+ years, and I need to reinvent myself. Like, seriously, yesterday. Or maybe tomorrow, or next week? But definitely sooner rather than later.

I’m 56, and I’ve spent decades learning my “craft”—getting good at it, and really enjoying it. But now I’m trying to figure out what I want to do with all of that experience, and it’s a cluster. Lots of questions, apprehension, procrastination—all the things.

Stable Chaos started as a place to sort some of that out, personally and professionally. It still is.

But as I’ve been figuring out what comes next, I keep returning to a question I’ve spent much of my career thinking about:

What makes an audience willing to give a brand its attention?

Because attention has to be earned, and I’m increasingly curious about who understands that, who doesn’t, and what makes us decide something is worth letting into our lives.

For most of my career, I thought about that question from the marketer’s side. Now I’m sitting on the other side of the funnel, and I’m paying attention to everything that happens before I ever get anywhere near one.
